Heat pump servicing, once a year

A heat pump that hasn't been serviced quietly costs you money every month. It works harder for less heat, and most manufacturers require an annual service for the warranty to stay valid. Miss enough of them and a compressor failure that should have been covered becomes your bill.

What skipping it costs

It doesn't break. It just gets worse slowly

That's what makes servicing easy to put off. A blocked filter and a dirty coil don't stop the unit, they just make it push harder for the same result. You notice it as a power bill that crept up and a room that takes longer to warm than it used to.

The two expensive versions of putting it off: a coastal outdoor coil that corrodes because nobody washed the salt off, and a warranty claim declined because there's no service history behind it.

Efficiency back up

Clean filters and coils mean the unit reaches temperature and stops, instead of running all evening.

Warranty stays valid

Most manufacturers want annual servicing on record. We leave you a report so you have it.

Small faults caught early

A low gas charge or a worn fan bearing is cheap now and expensive in two years.

What the price covers

Servicing from $149 per unit

That's a full annual service on a standard high-wall unit. If you've got more than one, we do them in the same visit and the second unit onwards is less. One trip, one call-out.

Ducted systems are priced separately because there's more to check and more places for it to go wrong.

Every service includes

  • Filters removed, washed and refitted
  • Indoor coil and barrel fan checked and cleaned
  • Outdoor coil washed down, salt and dust off
  • Drain line cleared and flow tested
  • Operating pressures and temperatures checked
  • Electrical connections checked and tightened
  • Run tested in both heating and cooling
  • Written report left with you for your warranty file

Questions

About servicing

How often does it need doing?
Once a year for a normal home. Twice if you run it hard year-round, or if you're close enough to the coast that salt is getting into the outdoor unit. That covers most of east Auckland and anywhere near the harbour.
Is a service the same as a clean?
No. A service is a mechanical and electrical check with the filters and coils cleaned as part of it. A full clean is a deeper job. The indoor unit comes apart and the barrel fan and coil get chemically treated. If your unit smells musty, that's a clean, not a service.
Will it really void my warranty if I skip it?
It can. Most manufacturers require evidence of regular servicing before they'll cover a major component failure. Whether they enforce it depends on the claim, but on a compressor failure it's not a gamble worth taking.
Do you service brands you didn't install?
Yes. We service all six brands we fit, and most others too. It doesn't matter who put it in.
How long does it take?
Around an hour for a single high-wall unit. Multiple units in the same visit are quicker per unit because we're already there and set up.
